So my fiance has been out now for almost three months but has community corrections for six years. The protective order has been altered so he has visitation with the kids but no overnight stays. He has a curfew at 6:00Pm every night so we cannot even eat as a family. I work ten hour days so we get to spend some of each weekend as a family. I am trying to get past some anger and resentment and am jealous of anyone else getting time that I feel our kids deserve. Tensions are high and we are fighting a lot. Whenever I push a little he lashes out or totally disregards how I feel and is "done" talking about it. He hangs up on me when he gets out of his comfort zone. To make matters worse his parents, whose property he is staying on, have decided to help out an ex girlfriend of his by putting her up in a room on the same property. Who does that? He says he has no ground to tell his mom to ask her to leave as he is staying for free. I tell him it is only right to mention how disrespectful she is being by having her there. His catch phrase is that it is different for me because I can just walk away from him and this situation at any time while he is stuck. He does not feel that this affects the kids and I even remotely the same way. He has now decided that we cannot get married because it would be too difficult to obtain permission. How can I make him understand,? I am so sad. It feels like the beginning of the end.
As for his parents and the ex girlfriend, unless they are strapped for cash and she's paying rent there is absolutely no reason they should have her there. He has every right to say something to his parents and he should explain how hurtful it is to you to have her there. I understand him not wanting to rock the boat (I'm currently living with my mother and I know I have to pick my battles because I have no where else to go) but there are some things that just need to be said.
He needs to understand that everything that goes on affects the children. I have 3 and it's been really difficult for them. He seems to be having a pity party and it needs to end. Hang in there, but don't be afraid to walk if you have to.
