A NEW WEBSITE HELPS BYSTANDERS SUPPORT VICTIMS OF ONLINE HARASSMENT
https://bitchmedia.org/article/new-website-helps-bystanders-support-victims-online-harassment
Families of sex offenders are also the subject of online humiliation and harassment. Why not learn how we too might request help from other users in the way that works best for us? For example, This site makes it possible for their users to request people send them positive messages, downvote trolling comments on a Youtube video, or help document abuse by taking screenshots of Twitter posts. Other users—( on this site called Heartmobbers) —perform a digital form of bystander intervention. They can send harassment victims private messages of support or take action in the ways the victims request.
And perhaps most importantly for Families of Sex Offenders This site also includes detailed, public guides on how to flag and report abuse on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, and Reddit and what to do if you wind up being harassed. Just a thought. We too can learn to push back and speak out against googling harrassers

MY BAD! ! hope some here has power to delete my next two "discussions" about how to report trolls... ??? Please.

Done!

FreeToBreathe. Thanks! Given our recent discussion regarding internet harassment (and that book also piling on onto a Daily Strength family member) maybe we could figure out a handy "plan" of action for the future using their ideas (or even their website if they are amenable) Anyway, collateral damage is real and it might help us all to know we have a viable "plan" to recommend if/when the trolls arrive?

Sadly, most soial media, ESPECIALLY Facebook, tends not to take harassment of registrants seriously. i'm not one for saying "sue," but I really wish a registrant would sue the hell out of FB.

oncefallen: I agree but cases have to find proof and start somewhere...One of the things this website link talks about doing is helping "supporters" take screen shots of Hateful-harassing posts on social media in order to help build the solid case people (and courts) might listen to.... Anyway reading through the link, (and knowing from personal experience how hard it is to be able to speak out on 'dangerous subjects' because of fear over 'collateral damage" educating ourselves seems smart.) They call it "mobbing" the trolls. Reminds me that even a gang of tiny birds, when possessed with the crazy courage to defend themselves and the eggs in their nests, can mob together to drive off noisy Blue Jays. I know, naive? But I for one don't want to be driven back into silence. I for one, find it hopeful that there are even websites like this out there. t find it hopeful that Galen Braughman finds courage (and is invited!) to give a Ted x talk...AND, full circle back to your point, so that even if we don't win against International Megan's Law this time, we are building strength (and asking for personal stories/ people with courage to speak out/ do dangerous writing) to help build a court case against "individual discrimination" not only by the Trolls we know and love so well but against the US Government. SO, Biff! Bang! Pow! Take that you nasty Facebook troll you! See you later at the supreme court maybe?
