Tough love

So after all this mess last night with my son being committed to a psych facility. They have released him less than 24 hours later. He obviously told them what they wanted to hear and not what he was telling me yesterday that he was gonna blow his brains out. My mom doesn't want him at her house and we can't have him here at our house and quite honestly we found out that he wasn't following his community control. I am going to pick him up shortly and give him a list of hotels in the area. He has some money bc he does have a job but I'm sure he will end up back in jail bc he will be violating probation by moving without telling his po. We have tried to call his po and he doesn't answer. I have tried to text him no response. I feel like there is nothing I can do. It's out of my hands. Anybody else had to deal with this with their loved one and had to do tough love ?

Luckily, no. My heart goes out to you. I have "seen" some awful things while my LO has been it that awful place. Your situation explains a lot: our prision system is the "mental health dumping grounds" IMHO

I am surprised that more people do not feel this way - this whole system is overwhelming and hard to navigate and live with - then added to that is the fear that one wrong step could land someone in jail. It is a broken and unjust system and you and your son are also victims of a broken mental health system. I mean in what world would the officials take the person who needs the treatment word for the fact that they are ok?

I can certainly understand that there can come a time when you realize there is nothing else you can do - perhaps your son has just decided the system is too hard to navigate and so then why try? Unfortunately I understand that all too well and I am surprised I do not hear of it happening more often.
