I decided to venture more boldy in the field of self employment this week due to the overwhelming reponse I found here. I placed an ad in the local paper this week, which was surprisingly inexpensive and a circulation of 48,000/$12.00. I also had opportunity to contact the Sheriff of our county reference some thefts that ocurred at our church. I spoke to him directly concerning several matters. I, in a former life was a police officer, 20 years ago, and was familiar with the Sheriff when he first started in the county. I was a defense and tactical instructor for the county and had trained the Sheriff on occassion as well as many of the Deputies. Oddly enough I left Law Enforcement becasuse of laws like the one that convicted me. We spoke openly about RSO and other issues SO's face and he was open. I asked about a support group for SO's and he had no prroblem other than checking with my PO. (I have already covered that ground with my PO and have a letter permitting me to return to the prison as a volunteer.) I questioned him about who details his cars and he had no one but a few inmates from the county jail and that was sporadic. I offered my services and he accepted.......................believe that?! I recommended he bring me his worst and judge from there whether it is worth his time. Now I wait to see it come to pass. Whatever the outcome, I am inspired and have a new vison.
