First of all as someone who has just come off the SOR. There will be many people including family and friends who will never understand why you choose to stay with your partner. My soon to be wife (4 days time) has stuck by me for the last 9 yrs. She does not condone what I did but supports me in becoming the best person I can be. This has resulted in major difficulties in having further access with her children who she lost before I moved interstate to live with her. Regrettably being on the SOR is seen as the worse of all crimes in society, even when there are others out there who are continually committing domestic violence against their own wives and children. Im glad the social services have butted out of your situation because im my experience this rarely happens. Hoping and praying that time goes fast, your relationship will stay strong and trusting your family will eventually be 1 unit once more.
I'm so happy that you and your partner are taking this big step together and she has stuck by you, everyone in society believes people who have been on the SOR are monsters and will never change. I have only been with my partner 3 years in September, our daughter was unplanned but we were over the moon, my family have already said if I have anything to do with him they won't speak to me again but like you said it is because they don't understand. I am prepared to let them go as the way they have been since this has all come into light has been horrendous.
Social Services will become involved again once we move back into being a family unit but by then I would have completed a course they have asked me to and so will my partner. Once again I am so glad things have worked out the best for you.
