this country is getting ban happy

Just when you thought it was safe from being banned............Now they want to ban Smoking in apartment complex's SANTA MONICA (KTLA) -- In an effort to curb second-hand smoke, Santa Monica city council members have approved a law that would prohibit smoking for new tenants in apartments and condos.

The ordinance, which was passed Tuesday night, would also force existing residents to designate their home as a smoking residence. Those that do not comply could be fined.

The City Council must come up with a definite date for when every unit would be declared non-smoking.........i have always said once the lawmakers got a taste of what they can get away with by banning people they are gonna want to keep on taking away more and more rights just wait until the "we want to ban the right to bear arms" watch the fireworks fly!

Wow, if that isn't just a bunch of crap! I understand the health reasons, but that will be a hard one to enforce!!!

i like the new york sugar tax the best :) lol this is completely ridiculous. are they gonna ban it in your own (non apartment) home next? saying that some of the smoke escapes out your door/window. someone passing by might get a whiff. lol hahaha condos are a purchase too lol. wow people are getting lame.

oh yeah ps. wonder how many jobs will be lost this time? don't people realize that the more restrictions you put on society the more jobs will be lost? for example, people are getting healthier, which means less needs for doctors or nurses. also, the transportation of such goods will be shorten, and the people who work in tobacco industries could see more lay offs. it's all a butterfly effect. ah well.

well, didn't davis california ban smoking in the whole city? and what if you don't pay the fine, will they jail you? this is getting out of hand...

Freedom isn't free, it has to be fought for from the people that would prefer to take away the freedom of the people for their own personal gain.... (like all those politicians, FIRE THEM ALL, do not let one incumbent get another term, they are using our political service system as a career, something it was NEVER designed for)

I believe they will have a terrible time enforcing the non-smoking in your own home thing. For smart people are never going to let any LE in their home with out a WARRANT. If you do, then you have no one to blame but yourself for anything they find while there.
