I'm going back to work tomorrow. I think it might be good in some ways to do something normal for a little while. It has been a week and a half since the police raid that left my world in pieces. And while my family have been in triage mode, the world has kept on turning. And now I have to balance being there for my family, while trying to prepare for a future without my father. It's just so hard to act normal long enough to go to the grocery store,without crying or a panic attack, much less resuming the bigger parts of life like school and work. Just feeling overwhelmed.

I can truly understand. But, no matter what we manage to find inner strength we did know we are capable of. So sorry you are going through this.

I was a complete wreck a week and a half later. I wasn't fully there for at least two months later. If you are together enough to go back to work, I commend you! If you find you are not fully there, don't think you are alone. If you struggle, see your doctor and tell them everything you have gone through and your symptoms. I was taken off work until I was able to function again.

I agree with seeing your doctor. The only way I was able to work was to be on anti-depressants. Without them, all I could do was stare at my computer screen.

I was off work for about 3 weeks. Luckily my place worked with me and i could work from home and then ease my way back into working a full 40 hour week. I was so happy at that time that i worked for a small company that would care about their employees, which i did have that. If it wasn't for this i do not know what i would of done.
Take it one day at a time and if you feel that you can't handle it hopefully you are able to leave work. Do not push yourself.

My son went to prison for 30 months, now out for 1 1/2 years on probation , 13 1/2 more years to go.. and I honestly feel that I won't be able to take it all in and finally grieve until his probation is over and the 15 years on the registry has ended . At that point I'm hoping to have a good cry and take a big sigh.

My husband was arrested while I was at work. They left his cell phone in the interrogation room and he called me at work. Out of the blue he was telling me that he abused our granddaughter and that I should get as far away from him as possible. All in about...30 seconds. I was traumatized. I spent 4 days on the psych ward and 3 months out of work. I quit my job. Fortunately, I had no problem getting another one.

Eventually, life goes on, but it is not the same as it was before.

After the police came to our house with the search warrant because my son had downloaded cp, my nerves were so bad I couldn't eat or sleep. I remember days after the police came with the search warrant, trying to force myself to eat a hot dog because I hadn't eaten anything. What should have taken me a few seconds to gulp down took 30 minutes to eat! I lost a lot of weight from the day the police came with the search warrant to the day my son took the plea deal and was locked up.
