I was able to use a temporary agency back in 2004 to get my first FT placement. Sorry you aren't getting any bites. Don't give up. If you have the skills they need, is the process breaking down further in the interview process?

The fact that most companies around here won't deal with sex offenders is what's killing my chances. And most companies go through temp agencies nowadays.

I think the political and social media changes since 2004 have made this worse for anyone. Based on my own experience with trying to find a different employer (even after being with the same company for 10 years), it is extremely hard.

I realized that companies don't want to deal with XSO's when I asked. My apologies if I came across as insensitive. I think the job environment in 2004 was different. It all depends on who you interview with. The temp agency office in my area closed down a few years after I got my current job. I find that many people just hear "sex offender" and everything else goes out the window.

When they hear SO, they want nothing to do with you, that is correct. They judge you on the one size fits all. Its terrible.

Luckily I've held a steady job for the past 11 years working at a little local mom and pop grocery store before all this happened. My boss was understanding when I told him what was happening. He kept my job for me when I was locked up. I was very thankful.

My PO was okay with me working there, group was semi okay with me working there, hell even the judge was okay with me working there.

I guess you gotta find small local places to work.

My next goal I think is to move elsewhere in the state (Ohio) after I've fulfilled my registration duties in 3 years and find another job. Unless I have to register if I move within the state...I do know if I have to do that or not.

And it's really strange that everyone was okay about me working there, because its a place where kids frequent. We carryout groceries to customers' vehicles.

Small places seem the best way to get work. My current employer is maybe 6-7 people at most. Before I was sentenced, I was working PT for a retail chain. I mentioned what was happening to the store manager before I was convicted, she said that I could come back. I did work there for the fall in 2004. However, my group was against my working in a retail establishment where kids come be present. However, the store was not geared towards children. It is a gourmet retail chain. You had to be 18 to work there, so any contacts with minors would have been incidental. My PO was fine with it. My therapist was against it and turned the group against me. I decided to quit to keep my issues within therapy down. When I finally got my current job, my therapist never asked me to provide updates after I got my first raise. I was being paid well, and she didn't have any way to challenge my job or what I did.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. This just reminded me of how small minded people can be petty.
