Very brave and she makes many good points. I know I am an old fogey but if not for my son I would leave this country (or any developed country that has a prevalence of technology) and live an old fashioned life.

Monica, ahh the jokes... Yes there was a lot of public shaming... I can't say that was right or wrong, it is what it is with the media.... but she made some choices, albeit poor ones that got her in the that spotlight she abhors... I am not saying that it was all her fault, Billy needed to learn to keep it in his pants, shoot he still does...

I agree with advocate, there are days I wish I could give up my smartphone and my computer and just live a simple life...

Bullying angers me a lot, I can only imagine what my life would have been like if there had been an internet back when I was a kid.... OMG... either I would be dead or a whole bunch of others would be. I was tormented enough as it was, I can only imagine if it were 24/7 like it is today with social media.

What ever 'bad choices" anyone makes that does not mean that the Bullies should be given social permission to shame/ blame and make jokes about anyone who makes 'a bad choice' as though Bullies were entitled to cause collateral damage and revel in causing even more harm...to Registrants and their families or even young girls swept away by presidential charm....If this girl had not been smart enough to save the seamen splashed on her navy silk dress.... the president would have just continued to deny his 'bad choices' (I did nt have sex with that girl" ) and continued to feed the Blood Sport/ the media frenzy.... Janet -- not to pick a fight with ya, but seriously. She knew Bill is married, that he was the President, and that she was crossing the line in her own personal feelings. As she admits, she fell in love with him and made some bad decisions. Now, that does not give people a right to shame her publicly, but it does mean that she has to and she does take responsibility for her part in it all because in this case it really did take two to tangle and create a very bad situation all the way around for everyone.

Again, it does not give folks the right to use social media as a forum to publicly shape a person to the point it becomes harassment or cyber bullying. Those who did such are wrong. But at the same time, this occurred in an era where the Internet was new, a new found toy (as most looked at it being) or a new way to have a voice (as others looked at it being) and express what they wanted to say. Some most likely did not see it as or understand it to be harassment, bullying, or public shaming. You type something in on a key board, post it, and forget that everyone in the world can read it.

However, it is important to remember there is a difference between criticizing a public figure or official who knowingly, willfully, and intentionally steps into the public light by decisions they make that draws criticism to them, and that of using the Internet to bully or harass. One is a protected legal right whereas the other is not.

No, those who engaged in cyber bullying and harassment by using public shaming are wrong, but here, she choose to cross the line -- it was an equal decision between the both of them and not one in which she was powerless to walk away.

Again, she admits for her it was a case of falling in love with a married man and that has to carry weight so as not to blame Bill only on the notion that it is always that man's fault because many times it is not the man's fault in part or in totality. Not every woman is a victim, some are perpetrators and some are equal participants.

Secondly, this was not a typical workplace sexual harassment case where a supervisor uses threats, intimidation, or coercion to sexually harass or assault a subordinate employee.

Yeah I have to go with neither was a victim here - except for the public shaming etc. She was young but she was not a child. Yes Bill was older and the President but he was still a man and human. When that all happened I remember the media doing everything they could to make her sound like a child but she was no child.
