My ex had that happen to him. He thought I was not writing him. When he found out I was, he talked to the chaplain. The chaplain hit them up and got him his letters. Don't know if yours could try that or not.

Already spoke with his councilor's supervisor and he said he would look into it. Yeah right!
Not only that, but having 100+. Heat wave without AC and they don't do anything to help prevent heat stroke like passing out cold water or bring in fans. I'm sick if this HS BS they are doing.

Yep been where you are thoughtas.......I end up sending my man's mail registered so I had prof that I sent it...long story short at a end of a visit I proved it to the screws ( co) and made them give him his mail also told them that I would call the next day to make sure. Also telling them that they where makeing it difficult for us to keep in contac wich gos against human rights. Oh yeah had this fight quite a few times with them.
Some if them think its funny to mess with there mail......its all games to get them to crack.

And if you are calling on behalf of someone else...like with your brother or with ThoughtasWeak's situation, how would one approach it? Are you "calling on behalf of the prisoner"?

Definition of mail theft:
Whoever takes any letter, postal card, or package out of any post office or any authorized depository for mail matter, or from any letter or mail carrier, or which has been in any post office or authorized depository, or in the custody of any letter or mail carrier, before it has been delivered to the person to whom it was directed, with design to obstruct the correspondence, or to pry into the business or secrets of another, or opens, secretes, embezzles, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

It's not delivered until its reached its intended recipient. So if the mail is delivered to your home and I take it from your mailbox, I am committing mail theft. If mail is delivered to an office, it's up to that mail room from that office to deliver the mail to its intended recipient. The same applies here.
They do however have the authority to open and review mail and remove items not permitted, but they still have the legal obligation to get the mail to the inmates. "Holding mail" is still theft!

I doubt it too, but I am still going to be calling, even if its just to bug them...lol

wwo thought im so sorry to hear whats going on where your loved one is located:( thats so sad that not even mail is getting to him . the one thing that we all look forward to , the one thing that keeps them strong , knowign we are there for them and writign them . wow :( i wasnt having to go thru mail issues with my hub but , medical stuff yes . i kept calling for the nurse . so i could tell her about my hub sleep apnia . how he cant hardly breathe . to please make sure hes ok . i kept calling the oen over the jail cell . and voiced my worry . and kept calling them till i was able to hear from my hub to see how hes doing..the lock downs was the worst . wasnt able to get calls around that time . and boy that made me worry so bad . i prayed so hard thought crying my eyes out to GOD to please open communication and make sure my hub was ok . let me hear something . and sure enough thats when i knew when he called the seg unit and jail was on lock down .:( and or he had chest lumps and that really got me calling nurse every day till they finally brought him to the hospital to get xrays . make sure he not had cancer:(

no when you r in there the world shuns you dont care about you . . im so sory for your situation . i know what it feels like in a way because the medical . , just keep pressing on keep calling them everyday . until its straight with mail . like your doing.speak to the head the sherriff himself . let him know what human rights are being denied . he wont care im sure but still your lettign him know the system is wrong..also rebuke the devil and pray for a bridge of communication with your letters . aslk GOD to intervene in this , hes knows our worries our cares and will make the burden light . ..i lost so much sleep over my hub situation . lost even the ability to want to eat back then .until hub came home out that place he was at. . i know the pain thought .. we here for you . and ill be praying we hear good news about the letters situation . and the air situation .
yah hub went in during aug that one year and was there til jan . it was frozen in there then and the people didnt care had .bought him thermals for that ..after hub left the inmates had to grow gardens to feed the people . its getting bad everywhere. the economy is so bad , they cutting alot stuff down . .and for visits used to be behind glass, but now its behind a tv thing . u cant see anyone behind a glass anymore . :( when i visit my hub every week . after first week of not being able to accordign to rules . he was behind glass and was able to talk then . and pray with hands touching glass but it was better then . then now oh LORD help thought i pray in JESUS name .LORD GOD in heaven u know this is not right what is happening to her loved one ., LORD you given us the air to breathe and food and shelter to live in LORD you brought her and her man together . and LORD you know what occurred , in life . LORD i pray IN MIGHTY name of JESUS that you will open the communication . LORD i pray that this situation with the letters she is writing her man will go thru . he will receive them in JESUS name . LORD you know that shes not sending anything illegal . so there should not be any reason why her letters shouldnot go thru . LORD the devil is a lier and he wants her to worry and worry her loved one . LORD I pray you change all this so they can be in peace and take the worries away .LORD i pray in JESUS name that you reach out to her husband and let him know in a speacial way showign him that she loves him comfort them LORD .give them the strength to get to get this straightened out , but LORD you are our help in the hard times in the trials and test of life , help her to trust in you LORD and lay this situation down to the one whom can make this chaNGE for the good .give her the wisdom of what she needs to say and direction to what she will need to do . Thank you Hurting, I appreciate your prayers. I tried calling today, even it's a holiday I thought it was worth a try. No answer. So I will be calling tomorrow.

I had scheduled a visit today to visit due to holiday, drive 1.5hr inky to find I left my DL at home. At least I still have a visit scheduled on Sat. And believe me, I will make sure I have my DL before I leave.
