I really don't understand how someone addicted to meth has any room to talk but everyone likes to look down on someone to make them feel better about themselves.
If you run the search, you will even see what kind of cameras are available. Just as police body cameras are slowly starting to become available, taxi cab cameras are required in major cities like San Francisco.
So, legally, there is precedent when it is done for a public taxi. In your guy's case, he would be proactive. I would definitely look into this. On a related camera note, the state trooper that I have as a legal contact recommended that I have an outside camera to monitor my door, or at a minimum an indoor camera that monitors my front door. @EffieSteffie: Does he use his own car? If it is a "company" car, it is out of his hands. If it is his car and he gets reimbursed for mileage or actual expenses, this becomes a gray area - where he would need to talk to the company as well.
