I know a guy who was at an adult party and he got with a girl that turned out to be 15. She lied about her age, they started to date and her family even lied about her age. He didn't find out about her age until she was pregnant with his child. He stood by her and after the baby was born they weren't doing so well in the relationship. She started disappearing with the baby and he was going to fight for custody. Her family threatened to report him if he did, but it came down to the welfare of his child. He entered a custody dispute and they filed charges against him. He was lucky in that he didn't have to serve jail time and he received almost a decade of probation. He has to register for a lifetime (state mandate.)
The mother of his child is very off her rocker and the guy's parents now have legal custody of the child but the child resides with him.
It's very sad that girls like this do these awful things to guys. I can't tell you the age of most teenage girls these days and I used to be a teenage girl.

There appears to be a double standard, in one court 14 year olds are being tried as adults.
In the next court 14 year olds are being treated as innocents, when they are far from it.
The court system appears to be an oxymoron.

I understand your situation. My boyfriend is currently in prison out of much the same situation. We're currently figuring out how we're going to bootstrap once he gets out.

I understand. It is hard enough for an ex-con to find a job. But a sex offender? Who will hire them? He is going to stay with us when he gets out, we hope. But we rent. Our landlady could easily say he can't stay here. Then we will all be out. I am a disabled teacher. I can't just live anywhere. I need one floor, no steps. All this because of a 14 year old who needed some attention and has learned to get it in an inappropriate manner.

This is where you use the law to your advantage- its easy to make a case about something that it's really not. The challenge is finding the right issue. For example: My issue with my boyfriend- We are intending on getting married. Hence the Obergefell V. Hodges case kicks in, and it is now a crime to interfere with a marriage on the basis of sexual preference. Hence, all I have to do is find out what bar the probation officer goes to, and send in a friend of mine to get their "opinion" of homosexuals. (hopefully eliciting some quite colorful commentary, if possible). Once I get that- I have enough evidence in the kitty to be quite comfortable with the situation, because right now the marriage issue still has enough steam behind it to cast shadow on the sex offender issue. Especially with the Clinton / Trump crap going on.

The same thing can be done with multiple types of issues- you just have to find the right one, with the right political timing. Disabillity is but one hot-button issue that you don't mess with in the public eye. Race is another. I'm sure by now you see where I'm going with it.

Hi castingproducer, I appreciate the invite but 1) I am not a religious person so I don't think I would be a good fit for what you need or are looking for and 2) it would not be OK for my son if I was on a public show and discussed what has happened to him. When you are incarcerated for a sex crime, we are learning, there are a lot of hoops to jump through and lies you must tell to get out of prison. My son is having to take courses in prison to show the court he is changing while in prison. However, my son really does not need to change because he really isn't a sexual offender. He has to lie and pretend he is and that he is soooo sorry for what he has done and write letters to his victim about what a horrible pervert he is to have committed this horrendous crime. Don't get me wrong, he is guilty of having sex with this young girl without knowledge she was not of age. However, it was consensual. The court says she is not old enough to consent. But, she was no virgin and the next court is trying 14 year olds as adults. The court system is an oxymoron
How can you try one child as an adult, but the next one is not old enough to give consent to an act she initiated. And then he has to register. A show like yours could put him right back in. They don't need a real reason!

I feel your pain. My husband is going through something a lot like this. He moved to another state after college and met a girl at a bar. They started dating and then her parents found out. Turns out she was 14 with a fake id. He was charged with the lowest sentence and it was considered an atempted criminal sexual conduct and he is a tier 1 sex offender(which is considered non violent and he only has to register once a year for 15 years). He told me what happened and I excepted him. It's been 10 years and one year her forgot to report where we were living. Nothing had changed. One morning we get a bang on the door. A swarm of sheriffs are out side my door with a battering ram. I told them just hold on I'll get him. It was horrifying they treated him as if he was a child molester. And they kept asking me if i fully understand what he did. When he finally got to explain to them they were surprised because it was such a non violent crime. The police had just assumed he was this horrible person. They took him to jail for failure to register. And we got a lawyer and the judge have him probation. I couldn't believe it. And his probation officer she shakes him up every time he goes to see her. She has already put him in jail once for missing a payment. It's so heart breaking how they treat him. And he's litterly 5 years away from being done with it all. The system is so screwed up. It kills me.
