Like everyone else on this site, life has been turned upside down. My son has been writing letters to former co-workers, friends and his ex-fiancee and sending them to me. He knows that some of the letters will never be read by the people they were written to. In some cases, I have transcribed his letters to a friend or two on facebook as a private message. I hate that he feels abandoned by so many people because it makes him feel even more alone and hopeless about his future. I've told him about this website and today he asked if I thought someone from here would write to him. I told him I would put a post out and hope it doesn't get anyone in trouble. He's scared about prison and also wonders if anyone will ever love him again knowing about his past.
He calls me two or three times a week and I visit him at the jail once a week. He writes well and I think it's cathartic for him so I encourage him to write even though in some cases, no one but me will see the letters.
As for me, I just wish I could stop hurting and want my son home safe.
I know we don't all have the same faith or beliefs but we're all hurting and in this together.
