There's a recent post here discussing who can search your house. The PO can without a warrant. Police only with a warrant (I believe I have that correct). But if you let them in, police can search (not a good idea).
Being on parole or probation, most likely it will be his PO who does the 'compliance' checks because he will be doing at least monthly home visits and will at least look around inside, depending on mainly his attitude, he may or may not search and has every legal right to do so...
Now, here's where it gets sticky....Generally, the cop does need to get the PO's permission to search, BUT, all the cop has to say is that he had a call of a disturbance or suspicious activity(doesn't have to be true) and then, your son being on Felony probation or parole IS subject to 'Search and Seizure by law...My Dad is retired Highway Patrol and he once told me that he could stop a brand new car,as it pulls out of the lot, and find a violation if he wanted to, so cameras are a good idea....As long as he does what he is supposed to do, he shouldn't have any problems...Once he is off probation, NO WARRANT, NO ENTER, PERIOD!!
