Although we are 8 years away from this...my brother is so curious to know....his probation states that he has to take classes. I guess its set of classes until he finishes? Has anyones family attended these classes?

My dh had to take classes as well...and he had to pay for them...this was in MN. His PO officer gave him a list of about 8 classes he had to take, and he could either take them over the course of 3 months for a couple of hundred dollars total, or take them 2 a week for like a thousand bucks total. Huge money difference, but we needed to transfer out of MN to MS so we could move in with family (since his conviction cost him not just his job but his entire career) so we paid the extra and I worked more OT so we could get the transfer faster (still got screwed anyhow and he ended up going BACK to MN for 3 MORE months to await ANOTHER transfer, but...anyhow.) So the classes he took were more like a one-hour therapy session where he just pretty much listened and then took a quiz afterward (you know, like 'Crossing someone's personal boudaries may make them feel a) anxious b) unsure c) happy d) a and b' --stuff that really helps...not. But you have to do it, so... I think the cheaper classes were more like 'group therapy' with the same material. It's boring, common sense stuff that is a waste of money but is one more hoop PO's like to make you jump through because they can (imo)

I see. We are hoping to get him transferred out of the state while he is still on probation, So...I hope these classes can be taken in another state. Thank you

My husband had to take classes. He was convicted in 2005 for child molesting. Hardly the "child molestor" but anyhow. He also had to take polygraphs every 3 months after probation and was not allowed anyone under 18!

My hubby took classes, for what it was worth, imagine an innocent man being stuck in such a class and having to hear what others did. Ummm... anyway they lasted about a year, once a week, he actually go along good with the therapist (or whatever) and he helped my hubby get a job albeit a temp one...work is work right, when you've been screwed out of your last one by the system
At any rate, he had to pay $35 a week and they ended about 6 months before he got off probation, which he managed to get off of early, (half time) and then they refunded him $700 in fees.
