I originally thought it was satire, but I was unsure. It is scary, because we expect this kind of thing to happen. They already feel that SO's are incurable, that it really wouldn't surprise me in the least that this would happen, especially in TX.

Yeah, satire..well written, as in thinly veiled satire. The author does a lot of satirical pieces.

Problem is, often "satire" mirrors real life . . .

The fact is, those in government are capable of doing such things and I know that here in Missouri, no one is permitted access to the civil commitment facility to conduct investigations about what goes on inside and how those housed there are treated.

Keep in mind that several years ago, the CIA in collaboration with Universities conducted experiments on people with disabilities in secrete.... it took a Congressional hearing headed by Senator Kennedy before he did to expose what those in government were doing . . . so don't be too quick to judge this article as merely being "satire" when it could very well be fact given how those in government act.

It's disturbing that someone wrote this but what's more disturbing is that people think that its a good idea!

I agree with you Suchaslife, it is very disturbing that someone thought of this but maybe they thought of it because they thought it was absurd – but many people reading it will think it would be great!
