The comments are mystifying - I guess like any other form of art people interpret the film differently - I did not think at the end he killed the child - did you?

I did think it was a possibility. They invented a monster and got 1.

i didn't get the impression that he was going to kill the boy. but i did get a gigantic impression that he was going to give some truth to the lie and scare the living crap out of him!!!

me too Echo! then I read some of the comments and they people were thinking he killed the boy - real thought provoker - actually it shows how people perceive these types of situations - those that automatically thought he killed the boy probably are those that believe in stranger danger the most?

some of the comments were just as scary or even scarier than the video.

I see Sid as just a kid with an active imagination. He probably would be a fine artist or storyteller...a class clown, perhaps. Someone who doesn't follow the crowd or accept the "party line" without question. Those kinds of people are not to be tolerated.

As much as anything, I see the film as an indictment of standardized testing, and standardized groupthink, run amok.

(That, and if those "adults" are willing to believe without any evidence that there IS a man in the woods, what must they believe when their child tells them there's a monster under the bed.)

yeah with discipline and direction. an imagination let unattended and no guidelines or boundaries is surely asking for trouble.

with the right channeling and guidance their no telling what a great fertile imagination can invent or cure!

sid, sadly, wasn't getting anything that he truly needed. except an understanding that he could get what he wanted by lying.
