I heard them on Fox News last night saying why didn't any one call the police, someone had to know he was up to something!
Well the police cant do nothing until he broke the law, then its to late. We as a society can not protect others even if we knew what he was going to do. This goes for us as well, if my neighbor thought I was going to attack her and she calls the police, the police can not do any thing until I do something. I have not committed any crime for the past 34 years. So if I decided to break down her door and attack her what good was the registry? She knows my name so what! Most the people I attacked when I was 19 year old knew me, I did not care. Its the same for this person that shot those at Aurora, Colorado. No one can stop some who set his or her mind on what ever it is they want to do. No Law will ever stop a criminal before for the crime!
Obviously, there is a lot of outrage in the communities in CO about this situation. There's been a lot of comments how he should be drug into the street and shot, etc etc and everyone is expecting the death penalty.
A couple of years ago I would have agreed with them.
A couple of years ago I would have seen a monster in that man's eyes. I would have hated him....despised him. In a way, I still do.
But now.....I pity him. Granted, his "mistake" was pre meditated, and the most heinous thing to hit our state since Columbine. And I hate what he did with every fiber in my body. But if there's anything that what I've been going through with my husband has taught me....it's that when someone has an illness/sickness/something going on in their head that causes them to do something bad, whether it's murder or molesting a child, they need help. Not hate. A wonderful man in my life has always said "when people are the hardest to love it is then that they need it the most."
So yes....I hate what this man did. Hate it to my very core, and I've spent the last couple days periodically in tears over this senseless and tragic act. But I do not hate this man.....and if I do start to hate him and wish harm on him than I am no better than the person he was when he went into that theater.
Just putting some of my thoughts out there that have been infiltrating my mind since Friday morning.
BUT, let one kid be exposed to a dirty sexual photograph or get propositioned in the park, and BAM, you got yourself 65 new laws on the books about sex offenders. It is positively insane.
October 2, 2006, a shooting occurred at the West Nickel Mines School, an Amish one-room schoolhouse in the Old Order Amish community of Nickel Mines, a village in Bart Township of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

I have mixed feelings about the death penalty. I meet Tex Watson and Bruce Davis in prison 1981 they both taught me about Jesus and helped me see why I should change. Tex's and Bruce took time to teach me how to study God's word, how to apply it to my life in prison, as while as out of prison. They both had the death penalty here in California for killing Sharon Tate back in the late 60's.
I am only one of hundreds of inmates they both help became a better person, this would not of happen, if the State had killed them in the early 70's.
Tex's and Bruce in helping so many inmates stay out of trouble have saved a lot of life's. Hundreds of these ex-con today have never committed another crime because of these two, this includes me. I have been free for the past 33 years.
I don't know what is right concerning the death penalty, but I am happy Tex's and Bruce was able to help me
Aurora has really come together. I am in awe of all the stories of heroism and strength. I am sadden by this tragedy.
Cathie, where in CO are you. You can pm if you want.
It really does renew a little bit of your hope in humanity when you see everyone come together to support those who were involved. My church and my family's church both held prayer vigils and extra services this weekend. It's so heartbreaking to see something like this happen, but so wonderful to see the displays of strength and is a good reminder for a lot of people I think, to not take what you have in this life for granted, and be grateful for your loved ones.
