My SO of 5 years was talking to his PO (haven't met officially yet as he was just sentenced last week) and was told all contact between he and I should stop. In Colorado there is a blanket rule that RSO of any risk can not have SO with minor children. His accused crime involved two 54 year old people.. not kids... and not me. He has never been in any trouble or even associated with any trouble.. We have a business together and were working around the blanket statement of no internet, but now we can't talk, phone, write? How do you stay employed full time if you can't talk to your business partner? we are using a third party for all communications right now. But will that get him in trouble with the PO? Are there any good POs? Should I walk away now.... Would it be easier for him to not have to worry about crossing the PO line? I feel so shattered...

I would dispute this and appeal to the judge, that you need to be in contact because 1) he's your son and 2) you are business partners and need to communicate with each other. There is no reason for his PO to say this to him.

I live in colorado and am scare to death about this stupid law, my husbands crime happened in another state and 25 years ago nonetheless... But we live in colorado, and his case has yet to be over (dealing with five +years of court). I have seen a few cases in colorado that the judge has said that the SO can live with their children, but can not be around other minors. But I would do like thought suggested and appeal to the judge. Good luck and please keep us posted

thoughtasweak-- Not my son my significant other. He has helped raise my son and we would be married except for this... His PO states that until he establishes that he is no harm to me and I support his treatment. Which I can't do because of the appeal. Even though he attends all groups, tests, etc. We are to continue communication through a third party. I guess we just use time.... They want me to admit he is guilty in some special Girlfriend class... I went and passed but wouldn't talk about the case cause I am a witness. I guess I don't' have 5th amendment rights?

If you're supposed to admit his "guilt" and you didn't, how did you pass the class? And if you passed the class, then how can they keep you two apart? That just makes no sense...of course, none of the SO laws make sense to me. What state are you fighting this in?

colorado... The class requires that you attend and pass an interview. the therapist of this group felt that my not talking about the case due to the appeal was ok. His PO does not. He was granted immunity, I was not. I just think fight for us to be able to have contact is going to make his treatment worse.... I am thinking of signing over the business to his friend (don't want there to be something to go after) and then just moving on with my life... When he gets through this i will just be waiting? Thoughts?

I say, don't let them get to you. Don't sell the business unless you want to, not because its a way for them to push you out of his life.

Thanks... just feeling very hopeless right now. Does fighting the PO ever accomplish anything? Do Appeals ever work? I was shocked to find that 90% of these cases that go to trial are found guilty.. We were pretty stupid going into this... I really was shocked to find a women can kiss you, feel you up and after you respond walk away no saying no no pushing away and then a week later regret it and charge attempted rape? so confused...
