Step in the right direction. I guess they finally got the memo that kids are at no more of a risk on Halloween then on any other day of the year. There is no need to assume there are sex offenders living in every house however parents should accompany their kids while trick or treating anyway.

In a Florida county near me they are only putting them up in Predator's yards. However, my husband and I are required to put a sign on all entrances to my home from 6 AM Halloween morning to 11:59PM that states No Trick or Treating, No Candy. We also cannot have lights visible from the street. It's not quite a bright red sign staked in the ground, but it's still pretty clear what it is. Personally, I feel like it's a bit silly to go so far. I understand not handing out candy, but if parents would actually watch their children and go door to door from them, I think that's sufficient. After all, no one is going to just snatch Johnny up with your eyes on him. You'd think that would be common sense to begin with, considering you're sending your children to stranger's houses to collect treats.

How about the families of the S.O.?
Most SO's live with family. Just because my son lives with me *I* am not allowed to host children?
"I" have to put a sign in my yard describing *MY* living circumstances?
Dim my lights?

Lets add to my previous post since Im into rambling and venting today.
Because I have a SO living with me, I am NOT permitted to have a gun in the house.
NOW...it's suggested that I post on my lawn and at the same time DIM my lights??
Since Im a 69 YO polio survivor and have limited mobility, how am I expected to defend myself, my home, my family? Dim the lights just opens the door for more sinister stuff to go on that have nothing to do with Megans law or parole or probation or any of that crap.

This is just the beginning. We in the USA are headed towards civil war be it race or religion.
Who will the sick and twisted be coming after first? Use your imagination.

I'm with you Thumper. We have two small children and we spend a good amount of time home alone because of my husband's job. I can't have a gun and I have to advertise that an offender lives here? That's basically begging someone to break into my house, or vandalize my property. It's endangering me and my children. What if someone were to take matters into their own hands after seeing such a sign, and one of my babies got hurt? I'd be furious but nothing would happen.
