Ireland... I doubt it would happen here in the USA

This is cool though - at least Ireland is willing to recognize the humanity and rights of the sex offender! Does anyone know whether Ireland has the public registry? The reason I ask is becasue the article refers to his private information a lot - in US that info is not really private becasue of the registry?

Good for this guy for standing up to them! I have a feeling that we may see more of those anti SO FB pages come down though becasue FB is famous for wide sweeps so they will not like being sued about this page and may remove similar pages. I am glad (even if not in the USA) that people are fighting back!

FB should be sued alone due to the fact they violate their own rules. You can report a threat, but they won't delete it, saying it's not against their rules - BS. If I posted a similar comment about a race, religion or whatever, they would remove it, but when it comes to harming registrants, they won't lift a finger.

FB's standards are appalling to say the least. They do not enforce their own written terms. Sadly there was a page not about a SO (violence towards animals) recently they would not remove until AFTER a petition was started & ended up with over 30,000 signatures.

@klw9653 in some areas of Australia the registry is public.

The lack of protection for registrants has to do with which groups are considered "protected classes" Because of that legal distinction some folks are protected. But registrants are not considered a protected class so the argument of discrimination can't be used.
