wished my hub was off paper . who knows how long he has to be on this registration stuff and hes got 14 more years probation ughh . . we had some big top people come around halloween to do some search of home with a sherriff cop inside . it was so humiliating . cause our son is only 5 half years old having to see this stuff :( yes my hub made bad mistake many years ago 14 yrs ago., but this makes him look like hes doing bad now. and thats not the case its just the way the govt does things. hope my son will understand someday .

Speaking of home checks ,I had one yesterday ! I been off paper for 11 years .The officer has been asigned to me for afew years now .He s been nice thru the years and he was at my house around 1 1/2 mins max ! I guess I m one of the luckly one s for sure ! checked about every 4 months now it was once to twice a years ! These s law s are unjust !

Hay they have not come by in a while to check on me. Last time they did they pulled my information and found I was noncompliant I then showed them the copy of my most recent information reported to the cops and they decided their information was out of date and I was not at fault and compliant. The cops then ran my car tag and found out that I had a warrant out for my arrest for probation violation. I told the cop the truth I had not been on probation for 15 years how could I have a warrant out for probation violation.. The cop then called dispatch and gave him hell, Dispatch suggested that I was wearing a disguise at which time I broke down laughing at the cop... The discription they had was a 150 lb black male... I am better than 6 foot While male and around 350 lbs. The cop then drove off and I have not seen them since. This cop was madder than a wet hen, They sure never covered how not to look like a buffoon at cop school... LOL

This brings me to another question, you have a locked gate at the entrance to your property, house sits about 100yards off main road, do they phone you or cut the lock? Off paper, just have to register 1 time year now.

What does it mean to be "on paper" or "off paper"?

Means I have completed my probation, have no other restrictions than this darn registry, Off paper

On Paper, you still have some sort of supervision for the length of sentence.

At least this is the wording I always use.

A US Marshal was at our door a couple of times now in the last two years. My husband is on paper and he wanted to search the house. We said no! His PO can seach the house but not any cop unless they have a search warrent. He can do an address check. If we said yes he could of come inside.

I had a similar experience last year. The usual detective and this rather obese sheriff's deputy came knocking. I've dealt with the detective since I was on SRO but never saw the deputy before. He was upset I would not let come in my home. The detective, whom I've let in my home after signing away my right in the past, asked if something was wrong. I explained I no longer wanted my home violated and their intrusions into my life were enough. I was pretty tactful about it. The deputy said he could get a search warrant. I asked on what grounds? He replied he didn't need any. I lost my tact and self restraint at that point and asked them if they were done checking my address. When they said yes I went back into my home and slammed the door.
Now, this came to light again when I went to register around my birthday. I find it interesting they attempt to ruin someone day of birth with their nonsense but whatever. Anyway, this rather butch looking woman came up and introduced herself as the new Sex Crimes squad commander or some such. Then she proceeded to read me the riot act on why I did not allow her people to search my home. I used a psychological technique that when someone is loud with me then I get quieter with my responses. It is quite annoying to bullies when the person being yelled at doesn't raise the conversation bar higher by yelling back. Anyway, after 5 minutes of her b.s. I asked quietly if I was allowed to leave since during her tirade I finished reviewing and signing my registration paperwork. She said I could go and told me I was playing game and they could too. As I left I told her I don't consider standing up for my rights as a game.
This takes a large amount of will and calm to do, especially when you're dealing with someone who thinks they are holding all the cards but I highly recommend continuing to fight against the search and seizure issue. It is highly...rewarding. >:)

Any more checks and have they just left you alone?

Also this Riot act, does it allow them to search home without warrant?

The day I was confronted downtown for playing games I had two squad cars in front of my house for a half hour but other than that nothing has happened.

Building: As far as I know only the PO, SRO, or whoever is in charge of a person on supervised release or probation, parole can search the home. Everyone else has to have a warrant.

If the intent is to protect your property then I'd think you'd have no problem but you have to explain to the SRO, PO, whoever how to arrange a visit so they can get past the gate

Derek: I hope your complaint is able to gain traction. I think EVERYONE who is harassed by these thugs should file complaints. Remember, when these PIGS try to get promotions, EVERYTHING (and I mean everything) in their files is looked at...including such complaints.
