sentencing was yesterday for my husband. hes a first time offender and he decided that it was better for him to take a plea and see if he could get a lighter sentence. I had to take the stand as a character witness yesterday and tell the court that he was not the monster that the state has portrayed him to be. After all this the judge has decided to sentence him to 35 years...i have been tld that the county jail that he is at either gives 2 for 1 or possibly a 3 for 1 day thing....i have also looked up about the good behavior things in texas...he has 180 days to be transferred to a tdc unit...i wont lie im scared to death for him but i know that he will be ok...i know that the attorney that we had said that the judge had signed a paper for him to not go to general population when he gets to tdc...how many years can i look at before the love of my life is returned to me?
There are a lot of different factors for him to come home. He could be home in 10-15 years if he lived in Indiana and if he took several classes etc.
Basically it's up to him and how much time the state requires him to serve.

I am sorry for this bad news. I hope that he does take as many classes, education courses etc he can while he is there. I also hope that his time gets cut way down.
You WILL be strong enough to go through this. We are never given more than we can handle. I know some days it sure doesn't feel that way, but we are only human and if we fall down we just get right back up. Just remember to take care of yourself through all of this, so you can take care of your husband and that this forum is here to help when you need support and/or just a listening ear.
I too am sorry for this sentence. I am new to all of this. My 22 y/o son was arrested 3 months ago for molesting a minor. We are still early in the court procedings. However, I just want to give you as much support and encouragement as I have been given since joining this support group. I'm praying for you and your husband.
