I remember that feeling like it was yesterday and it was over three years ago. I have never heard of the no registry for a sexual offense but I pray for grace and mercy for your family. My husband and I have been on probation for a little over three years and it has been a hard road. Although he committed the offense I am being punished as well. The registry is not fun but the probation rules and road is really hard.

I feel like I am actually being punished more so. I am the one who will have to explain to our two girls ages 4 and 9 why they will NEVER be able to have anyone over to play or spend the night with them if he gets registered there lives will change drastically. He will no longer be able to pick them up at school/daycare, go to any school events they are part or much less be there when they graduate.

I am just not sure if I can live under a shell for the rest of my life. Wondering and looking over my shoulder. I did NOTHING wrong and now I am sure I will be shunded by people, loose friends and have constant harrasment as a result.

How do you deal with it? What state are you in?

We live in Missouri. I had those same concerns. We have three daughters 7, 4, 2. Those fears are the same things I thought about too. I am such a future oriented person I am constantly thinking about how all of this affects our future. With three years in I can say your daughters will have friends and even sleep overs even if it means your husband goes somewhere else for the evening. It takes a lot of tears, prayer and creativity. I am determined to not my girls live isolated due to my spouse's choice. We have a circle of friends and family and some of them know our story and some do not. I try and keep us all safe by making sure I am present for all big gatherings. I feel like a single parent a lot because I have to transport my daughters to a lot of things alone because our lives are kid oriented naturally. My spouse can go often if he gets permission but the on the fly thing is no longer a part of our lives. Everything has to be very planned out. As far as schooling my spouse has been able to drop off and pick our daughters from school and attend school events but it has been a hard process. The difficult part for me has been living our lives so openly. For the school stuff he has had to report his offense to the administration and even the superintendent and get a letter stating he has permission to be on school grounds for such purposes. I had having to constantly tell people our story, who else lives like this! But ir is possible for him to still be a part of your children's lives. It will just depend on the PO and your willingness to talk about the offense over and over again. I have lost some friends but I have also gained some friends in the process. For instance today I am gaining a friend in you. A lot of the people in my life will never understand this and the decision I have made to stay but the conflict that still lives inside me. I am open to talking more and I will keep you in my prayers:)

If the statute says that it is a registry offense then more than likely they will be required to register. If there is a clause in there that say 'up to' or something similar, then the discretion is on the judge. and the way things have been going these days they will put people on the registry for the revenue alone.

If you live in MD & he's found guilty of a sex offense, then he will have to register. MD is one of the states that's considered substantially compliant with the AWA. This act makes it automatic that anyone convicted of a so is required to register.

My partner pled guilty to misdemeanor charges and didn't have to register, with three years probation and sex offender treatment. If he'd pled not guilty and gone to trial odds are good he would have a felony and registered status. It all depends on your state and what he is pleading guilty to.
