Court was an all day process... the victim had never come to any of the preceeding court dates but she came today to the sentencing and thus blew any chance of us getting the judge to grant a PBJ. So, my husband ended up with 10yr (all 10yrs suspended), 3yrs probation and a mandatory 25yrs on the registry.
My husband is 41 years old so he will be 66 when he can go off the registry. Our daughters who are 9 and 4 now will be 34 and 29.
In Maryland while there are no residency restrictions, my husband will not be able to go to ANY school events for our children nor will he be able to pick them up or drop them off for school.
So, today I was also handed a sentence. The sentence of being with a RSO, a practically single mother, and the one that will be left to constantly look over her shoulder and wonder who knows about this.
No one ever looks at a RSO as a person. They look at the charge which in no way is a true depiction of what they did.
I also worry that since my husband has such a sense of hopelessness he may try to harm himself or worse commit suicide.
Worry is my middle name and after today it should be in all caps WORRY

There's a lot of bills out there to limit time on the registry and in certain cases, abolish it.
Never give up hope.
