Hmmmm ... there are some interesting twists to this story. I do not know whether this man is guilty of what is being charged but if you read some of the comments and then search on the internet you will see that the senator (Alexander) has been one that is outspoken about the Patriot Act and defending the NSA spying on citizens. He has said the old "if you have nothing to hide why worry" rhetoric. I get that same thing from some of my students and it is not about whether you have something to hide or not it is plainly a violation of Constitutional and civil rights. The United States is not supposed to be spying on its' citizens without probable cause and/or a warrant - period. When we ignore that fact we are setting ourselves up for real trouble.

Anyway, I wonder if this Loskarn (person charged) was outspoken in defiance of the senator's agenda? It has already been proven that the NSA, ICE, and FBI have the ways and means to plant CP on anyone's computer and have done so ...when I read the article one thing that stood out to me was that they asked the senator permission to take the guy's work computer ... they need permission? It is a federal CP case - they don't need permission to take a persons computer! That sounds fishy to me!

Actually obtaining the Senator's permission to search the computer enabled law enforcement to do so in the absence of having to obtain a warrant and thereby submit an affidavit of probable cause. What's confusing to me is why is the postal police involved when they wanted to search the computer - postal police do not have jurisdiction over Internet crimes.

I know - I thought that was weird too! You may be right Legal but if my sons warrant is any indication it said any and all computers he would have access to using - I would think that would include any work computers as well. Of course, it is Floriduh

personally I think anyone in a position like that would have to be a total idiot to have that kind of stuff and especially to have it on an external hard drive? Of course that is the story 'they' tell and of course the media repeats it - I never trust the stories any more.

I don't think any of us, who have made the local newspaper, trust much anymore.

According to the criminal complaint the original offense dates back to 2010 when he ordered some DVD's that were delivered by mail so that's why the USPIS was involved. On a side note the USPIS does have jurisdiction over internet crimes that also involved the use of the USPS and they are a charter agency of the Internet Crimes Against Children program and Project Safe Childhood.
