We need to create an award for people like this lady. OK. Have to come up with a great name. Something meaning "fear reducing." Some new word...like they used to make up on Seinfeld. Hmmm... Have to think on this one.

Very smart lady, her point about child sex offenders is well taken. It says he is 28 but his victim is 8, even though it happened 16 years ago.

And Josh Gravens is a smart guy and well spoken, here is his video from RSOL conference, I really enjoyed it.

I always thought the free range kids and the sex offender cause were a good fit - glad to see this happen. In many ways these parents are starting to be vilified like RSOs

one of the things i like about Lenore is that like me, she thought and felt the same way about sex offenders until she started learning the outrageous severity and consequences. she learned by being told, i learned by association.

what she has learned has turned her thinking around and she makes an excellent advocate. for one reason she has no 'personal' knowledge or experience with sex offenders or the registry.

but she does have a whole freaking lot of common sense.

I've toyed with this idea for a while and I have the permission from the family to do so, but I was thinking of hosting the opposite of the Shiitake Awards, a "Duval Award" in memory of Mary Duval, who was a major catalyst for getting the movement to the size it is today. USA Fair tried to start something like that but they didn't get the family's permission. I did, however, and USA Fair seems to be defunct now.

I'll have to determine how to run it, whether there should be only one award a year or if there are categories.

Mary Duval was the mother of a young RSO. She was also quite an activist before succumbing to the ravages of cancer at a too-young age. I learned this from OnceFallen's website.
