The thing that gets me, about all the laws changing.. If it weren't for me my son would have no idea about new laws reguarding him as an SO. He's not allowed to use the internet. He might get a letter explaining practically nothing. The new law in PA about registry.. Why don't they include a copy of the bill that passed so he could understand it.

But if he doesn't know and does something that he's supposed to do it's on him.

This 'no internet' thing really keeps RSOs in the dark, as well as removing them from any kind of normal life. Need to get a job? apply online. Everything is online now. Music is online, movies are online. My son has 15 years probation. So for 15 years, not including the 30 months he spent in prison, he's still living in 2008.

How is this not punishment?

Oh i agree its punishment!
We just had a law change here the first we knew about it was a letter they sent us! We called them up and not even the police could explain it.

My son showed the PO his letter from the police telling him he had to go back and register again before the May deadline and his PO had no idea what it was about. BTY, his PO checks in on him once a month.. it's 4 years now.. and often he's high. This guy is in charge of my son and he visits him stoned. rediculous

Oh hell! That is totally rediculous! How has this guy still got his job? His PO should of been all over that and been able to explain it to him ugggg

Hopefully, they'll let him off after 7 and 1/2. I know, ...small consolation, but that's what they do down here in Franklin County. If you're fines are paid, and you don't screw up, they let you off half-way, and you generally get a refund

It seems like no matter what state your from & no matter if you were innocent or not or how much time you did in prison or whatever it's like all they want is to keep people with this type of crime in/under the jail there may be a few in the system that really care about SO & how they are being treated but they are jus a small portion against so many it sucks but that's the reality of it

our lawyer is pretty confident he can get off when he hits 5 years in January. Even the other POs my son has met at the office, other lawyers, and the cops when he registers every year say his 15 years is overkill and he could probably get off in 5.

and yes, they just like to keep them on a leash hoping they'll mess up. He was sentenced in Floriduh but he lives here in Philly. They probably wouldn't have even prosecuted him up here for 1 count of cp that forensics shows he never watched.

We're counting down the months at this point.
