I got an email from my son yesterday saying catholic services showed a movie and served them a meal. He said the movie was an old Bing Crosby Catholic movie (I am assuming Bells of St. Mary) that he really enjoyed. They served up a lunch of fried chicken, mac n cheese, fish, bbq chicken, salad, fried bread, ham and cheese cake.
He said Mom it was really good, it's the most food I have seen in quite awhile. He said he shared some of it with the others. Some of them brought baggies to save some for later but they were padded down and the leftovers where taken away from them. He was glad he ate most of it or gave away just so he wouldn't have to see them take it away.
He didn't sign up last year because he wasn't aware of this program Catholic Services puts on. A shame what the inmates miss because they aren't informed. Tell your loved ones to check out all services offered by different religions.
Anyway this email brought me to tears...my son who had everything, went out to dinner when he wanted and had the best meals is now grateful for an old movie and a buffet of food he hasn't seen since he went to prison. I can't share this with people on the "outside" because they just wouldn't understand, only my family on "Daily Strength" can relate..
