Question about FL probation

I am now in MA and my PO says he is going to try putting in for early discharge of probation I have now reached my 1/2 mark. My thinking is knowing FL other probationers may see 1/2 early release but never a RSO. Is my thinking correct. my probation started in 2005 and lasting till 2022 if I do the whole thing

It does happen even for RSO's as long as there's nothing in your stipulations stating your probation may not terminate early but your PO can't do it all. You will have to petition the court for early termination of probation and submit a report from your PO recommending early termination.

Would I need to go in from of a Florida judge?

If you do it pro se then yes you would have to appear before the judge during the motion hearing. If you hire an attorney to handle the motion you may or may not need to appear. This is a sample motion petitioning the court to terminate probation early.

If you need a public defender there's a bit of a gotcha. First you have to file an affidavit of indigency and be declared indigent by the clerk of court. Second, before you can be appointed a PD you must have an active case which means you have to properly file the motion to terminate probation early yourself and then turn around and file another motion asking the court to appoint a public defender to represent you for the motion to terminate probation.
