with my daughter's situation she is feeling pretty desolate but her true agony is the thought of what her brother and i have gone thru. her thoughts of the future and what we will be going thru until she gets out. and then add on the probation and registry.

Find someone that will counsel your son for both the actions he took and for what ever is underlying that may have contributed to the behavior.
But most of all to protect yourself and your son, please do not talk to the police without any attorney, doesn't matter the circumstances.

I'm glad you got an attorney. When this is over, make sure he gets into counciling. If he isn't charged, then your son can't admit to what he did, but tell them of thoughts about offending, as they are mandated reporters, and it will start this all over again.
