Finally after almost 6 years of dealing with the "wonderful" legal system my husbands case is coming to an end...and might I add for something that happened in 1990. He was backed into a corner for this plea, but they did drop it from 3 1st degree felonies to a 3rd degree with registry going from lifetime down to 10 years with the chance of getting off after 5. At the time of the plea deal the judge did bind over the sentencing, so we know that he has to complete a psychosexual evaluation (which was thrown in there last minute ... and I think is stupid) but will not have to serve jail time and can live with his minor children (this case is for Utah, but we currently live in Colorado). So the good news is no jail...but the one thing I hate is that evaluation.

Which brings me to my question, I am having a hard time finding anyone that does the evaluation out of Colorado Springs ... if anyone knows of a place will you please forward me the info. Thanks!

alwaysbyhisside, I see no one's chimed in yet, so I'll take a stab at this, I know NOTHING of anybody practicing in CO, I've never even been there. My advice is to try to contact our RSOL Affiliate in CO and see if they maybe can be of some help.

The page you linked to, freebird, has a bad link for Colorado RSOL. There is no such entity. The correct name is Advocates for Change, as referred to by Dave above.

I am from colorado and you wont find much in Colorado Springs due to the main thereapist there being in a bike incident. most evals are done in denver or Longmont now. Your very lucky. My so has a 5 degree felony charge and can''t live with his family. I would call John Pinoue out of Boulder to get a good evaluators name. They change a lot due to several of our treatment programs being criticized right not. Treatment programs are set by probation here in this state. Get a lawyer that really knows the sentencing system here in colorado. There is no treatment now available if your guy scores low on the evaluation. The have to take the ISOT currently. We are hoping that changes. There is only Intensive Sex Offender treatment offered at 400 a month and a couple class for 100 a month. IF your guy scores 0-1 on the test. 90% of those tested in colorado score over that . good luck. hit me up in a IM if you need more specific stuff to colorado. or just wan to vent.. It an interesting system and very easy to get nailed in.....

Congrats on the light sentence but going through six years was a sentence on its own!

Thanks for the responses, I did find someone up in Denver.

Goalone, I have been doing a lot of research on the whole SO and living with minor children thing; and that is why I made them include it in the plea deal (the victim, judge and prosecutor all had no worries about it ... seeing that this happened 24 years ago when my husband was 18). But has your SO done the child contact assessment? With talking with this doctor that does the evaluation she said normally if the offender has the judges approval or has passed the child contact assessment that they are ok to live with the family. Sorry you are going through this and the state.
