I think its different from state to state. Up here in the NE I believe they just come to make sure your place is compliant while a state like FL the police will actually hand out flyers notifying the neighbors.

Here in PA they just came to the house to ok it.

in AZ they do the flyers. What a country if it isn't hard enough finding a place to rent. I guess they need someone to bully and make fun of. Isn't gossip wonderful.

What does a probation officer look for when they come to your house to OK it? We already own are own home, it's a little run down. What would get you in trouble? We live in SC.

If it's your son coming home, then he needs to have a room of his own. I set my son's room up before he came home.
If there are residency restrictions then that needs to be addressed.
Being run down is not a cause to deny you.
No weapons in the home and if you have a computer , you might want to stash it and cut off internet for a bit.

Thanks, It's my common law husband. We have a empty pool in the back yard, it's kinda nasty. I'm trying to clean up @ the house before he comes home. Also my mother lives with us, she is disabled. My sister is having a baby that i will keeping some- think that would cause a problem w/ his parole officer? There is no computer, and all the guns will be given to a trusted family member. Some states have residency restrictions. Floriduh is 2500 feet from any school, church, park, mini park, school bus stop or anywhere children may congregate.
Pennsylvania there are none.. so it's really state to state. What state are you in?

Yeah.. the baby being there might definitely be an issue. But each case is different. You can call your local sheriff or police department and ask them. They should know. You can call probation office, but if it's anything like the one in Philly.. good luck getting an answer from anyone quickly.

You should be able to find out what the residency restrictions are for SC by going to your state's website. They probably have a link somewhere that mentions the rules for their sex offender registry.
