It seems like I read something similar to this happening a couple of weeks ago in California? It was a sting operation entitled something like "Operation Broken Heart" and it involved solicitation of a minor as well as child pornography - all cases of entrapment with no actual contact. It was one of those "News" stories that flash by when you open MSN on your home page.

I just remember thinking "How sad - now the real nightmare begins for these men and for their families."

My son was in Polk county jail for 2 months waiting for his transfer. Once of the worst county jails anywhere.
My son was 'caught' in one of their stings.. Yeah, it made an impact alright.

Just watched the whole thing on the news!

I read about the broken heart one as well they did say in that article that it was a set up. I was thinking that it was sad then I got mad coz they said that it was officers acting as kids...this maddeness has to stop!!

Sadly I was caught in a sting 8 years ago.....what made mine worst was when they showed me the chat log there was no sexual content in the log, HOWEVER, my cell phone records show they called me 39 times in one week PLEADING for me to come and meet a so called girl...I kept putting them off over and over and then after the 39th time they said "Well, you say you fix computers, well my parents are home and we have viruses and other stuff going on".........I grabbed Windows XP, Norton Anti-Virus and like a dumb jerk I went......as soon as I pulled up 5 cop cars surrounded me with 9 guns pointing at me......they slammed me to the ground, stuck a gun to the base of my head and cuffed and cursed me.........long story short, after I was able to bond out 3 weeks later (My bond was 98,000 USD at first then lowered to 25,000 3 weeks later - the magistrate who set the bond said "Lock these sicko's up! They DISCUSS ME! I'll set their bond so high they will never get out!") my x-wife now said they said I was using a web camera, etc.........interesting as I never owned a camera........she asked them for proof, a picture of my "stuff" to prove I did this.........they told her they HAD NO picture but was still working the case.........what was really interesting is, they NEVER came to our home to question my x-wife NOR did they take my computer or anything.........the sting arrested 12 men total.

.....well 3 months after getting arrested they plastered the sting on tv, the new paper......I lost my job, had death threats, my house at the time was egged, my car was scratched up.......etc......... my bonds man called me and told me to go stay with family, get out of the state (They knew I was setup).......I left the state and stayed with my mom for 2 months..........

Well, more to tell but I will get to the end point: I went to court, my attorney told me he spoke to the DA and I would NOT have to register.......then he said the DA wanted to speak to him again......20 minutes later he came back and said "Well better news, NO JAIL TIME but 10 year registration"........at the time I just came out of the psych ward due to suicide attempt and was diagnosed with Bipolar Manic Depression, Anxiety, and my psych said by the court allowing me to take this plea was in violation of my rights as at the time they should have taken my mental health into question.........which to come to find out my Attorney did not let the judge know about my stays in a mental hospital etc.........well, 2 years on probation and 10 year registry but was charged with 2 felonies as well.............sigh........the small town that did the sting was shut down 3 years ago in a federal probe that showed they were corrupt and some other federal charges...

Wish I could have appealed all this.
