Firecracker,Oklahoma pretty much does what texas does , on alot of laws ,these hard asses here in the lone star state still have a ways to go but thanks to SO groups(like texas voices) and hell raisen they have made changes for the better, hopefully Oklahoma will do their home work or take notes from texas and make changes... the facts will be in their faces! I agree with you.. firecracker..we as a country need to do this in all states! Has nt this damn country learned from its mistakes and want to start moving forward ! We as RSOs and our families are no different from other americans and this coutry needs to look back on it s mistakes with the African American Rights, Latin American Rights ,gay rights, and now the SO Rights!!! Hi, I am new to this forum and live in Oklahoma. I am following the article about the sex offender laws here. I am writing to Representative Jeannie McDaniel who requested the study. I suggest that any of us who want to fight also write to her and any other source to tell our personal drama because of the sex offender laws. My son is 30 years old, when he was 17 he had a consensual relationship with his underage girlfriend. He has spent time in prison, on parole and now is registered under the highest tier of offenders on the registry. I want to share with anyone who might be suffering because of these laws, whether they be offenders, families or friends. We need to continue to speak up.

Welcome! We DO support each other here and we DO know your pain. There are others here dealing with the exact same situation as your son. Your son should NOT be on the registry. I am from Indiana and my son has not been released yet; however, I worry so much about what he will have to endure when he is released. I pray that the registry will be abolished!
I am going to write to Rep. McDaniel, to let her know that she is doing the right thing.

It would be important to know who is doing the study? They may ask John Walsh to head the study. %$^#@

I think we need to write to John Walsh himself as well as the Senator who he was buddies with when the bill was first initiated. I heard through internet gossip that John Walsh admitted in public that he was a sex addict and that the senator who was on his bandwagon recently had some media attention for some improper conduct. In the article on Oklahoma, it does not say who will make the study but it says it was requested by law enforcement agencies and the Oklahoma Coalition for Sex Offender Management. In addition, the Justice Policy Institute was mentioned stating that the funds to implement the act outweighs the cost of losing the grant money.

I have sent her my letter, even though I am from California, she may be our new beginning. Thanks Firecracker for posting the article.
