Well finally on Jan 19 around 2,500 level 1 offenders will be taken off the registry in New York. Myself being one of them. Since I have no designation ( violent offender, habitual offender, etc} But still I feel like a prisoner. My wife and children are not allowed here because of the AWA and since I did a extension a couple of years ago to stay in the Philippines longer to be with my family it triggered an automatic background check and now I am blacklisted from entering the country. Now I have to wait 10 years before I can petition Philippine immigration to renter the country. Its never ending punishment. The only way I can see my family is that I have to fly to another country to see them. For ten years I have never had a problem getting into a foreign country except the Philippines and that was due to a extended stay. But now I worry about International Megans Law. HR 515. I am wondering does this law cover just people on the registry that have to register? Or does it apply to offenders that do not have to register anymore? There are so many questions I have.
