The photo is very beautiful. Knowing the back story behind the photo makes it even more special.

For a society that is over-sexualized, a little bit of nudity sure does send people off the deep end. Not to mention the double standard that is present; had it been a woman naked with her child, there wouldn't be an issue. Since it was a man, he must be evil.

Ah, I saw this earlier. No, not obscene in my opinion. I do think I suffer from the sexist thinking the article mentions though - while it's clearly not obscene, I find it the nudity and skin to skin element slightly uncomfortable as it's a male. I don't think I'd feel the same if it was the mother...my failing though, not the picture's.

ugh so much to say! lol the skin to skin although it makes many people uncomfortable is, as you say Phoenix , the persons failing. The only problem with this photo is that people have a problem with it - it goes straight to the fear mongering that I tell my students about all the time!

Not obscene to me. Our family album from the 80s gas several photos of me and my dad in the summer. He would be shirtless, I would be in nothing at all running round the garden. Its such a shaky line of what's classed as inappropriate these days. People are becoming over sensitive especially if it involves men. As others have said, if it was the mother it would be fine but its not. Its so sad.

I do believe society is preconditioned to see photo's of an adult male and child nude differently than see a photo of an adult female and child nude, in the same type of pose.

If the photo involves an adult male and child nude the first thought is to believe the adult male is a "stranger" who is up to something sexually deviant with the child, whereas the same person can look at a photo of an adult female and child nude and see it is a "mother" giving love to her child. In this context, and because of all the media hype, politician propaganda, and personal hate people have, yes, the photo of the male would be seen an inappropriate, disgusting, and obscene.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the picture, however I don't think it is something I would share to the public. That has been my opinion since I've first seen it.

It is a beautiful photo and the premise behind it is heartwarming. I don't see anything sexual about it.

However, that is something that is personal and I feel private. As proud as you are I don't think sharing a nude photo of your child and husband is needed or appropriate. Sharing the story, yes by all means. The photo is not necessary.

I don't get this need to share every intimate moment of one's life.
