My son is currently in California waiting to be transferred to his permanent facility, which we have no idea where that will be. I have not heard from him in a week and I am starting to lose my shit! I don't if he is okay or anything. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned for his safety? He was in Washington for a year and half, Nevada for a couple day and nothing ever happened but he always called me. Seriously freaking out!!!

It can take some time when transfers happen. Sometimes they go to one facility on the way to his final place.
Don't worry. When he can he'll be able to call you. He can't do that in the midst of a transfer.

Try calling the facility he was at last and ask them where they transferred him to. If he is in reception it does take awhile to process him, however he can get mail from you and writing supplies can be overnight mailed to him.

Every single time I don't get a call, when I expect it, I SUFFER big time. It really tests my faith! But, eventually they (I have TWO sons in prison.) do call and I can breathe again.

You can look him up through the inmate locator on the CDCR website. If he was moved, he will be on lockdown until he goes to committee. Depending on the prison, it can take a few days, or it can take a few weeks. Once he has gone to committee, he will be able to call you. You may receive letters from him in the meantime.

Hold it together cold blue mom , my son was transferred from Nevada and went to 3 different stops on way it was almost 3 weeks before I heard from him and yes I could not eat properly let alone sleep all I could do was pray and trust all was well ....which it was , and still is where he has been for nearly a year.
