But to answer your question, depending on the PO/Agent that he is assigned to (he'll have many over the 6 years he is on supervision) he'll have the freedoms they allow. Since he hasn't been sentenced yet, there is no guarantee that he'll get just the 6 years probation, regardless of the plea agreement, the judge can do whatever they like. My husband signed his initial plea deal for 3 years incarceration and 5 years supervision, the judge sentenced him to 10 years incarceration and 5 years supervision. That agreement is between the defense and prosecution only, the judge can do whatever they like. So things could go differently..... hopefully they won't but be prepared for the possibility. ---------------------------------------------------------

If you live in two different counties, he will need permission to come visit you, you'll need to meet his PO and probably become a chaperone for him as he is a sex offender now. If you choose to stay with him, you'll need to learn to follow the rules he must abide by, for the penalty for him not doing that is prison to finish his sentence. -------------------------------------------------------- A PO will not try to break up a couple outright, but if he doesn't follow the rules and/or it appears that you are a bad influence in their eyes, they could put a no contact order on you and he'll be forbidden from seeing you or he can go to jail. --------------------------------------------- Once sentencing is over you'll have a better idea of what could happen next.

Hi! First of all, I commend you for seeking support. That's a huge step, and can be very difficult. I am currently dating a man who just received sentencing two months ago. He's on probation for 3 years and on the registry for 10 years. For us, he can't stay overnight at my place but I can stay overnight at his. He is only allowed to go to one grocery store, one gas station, and pretty much if he goes anywhere else he needs a support system (which is me). He can't go to any places where kids would be like parks, schools, activity centers, weddings for now, etc. But it's important to focus on what we can do - like go for runs, play frisbee/soccer at a local university's intramural fields, kayak, and now we can go out to eat once per week anywhere! It's really not so bad. You have to look at the bright side, and I try to point out the positives when he sees a lot of negative. Like I said, focus on what you can do, and do those things. Not on what you can't do. It's good news that he doesn't have a felony, my bf does unfortunately, so that is a blessing for sure! Other restrictions include no alcohol or drugs, and something we found out is he can't have any contact with minors - even his 1 yr old nephew who will be visiting with his brother from France. Whatever the restrictions are, it's important you focus on the positive! There is a reason the both of you are in this place together. And once in a while, you can feel the weight of the restrictions...but for the most part, it's not so bad. And we remind ourselves constantly that it is all temporary.
