Please give me some feedback or suggestions on moving from Alabama to Georgia. Is it better in Georgia? Who can I talk to? Where can we go? Thank you. My family and I are lost and confused; we need help.

Georgia's residency restrictions are really strict (although not as strict as the original residency restrictions they were going to pass before they repealed those restrictions due to court challenges.) What's especially bad is that Ga's residency laws apply for both work and home location. However, the residency restrictions only apply if your crime occurred after 2003 (and the super strict restrictions only if you committed your crime in or after 2006) Ga is famous for banishing all criminals ranging from prostitutes to domestic violence offenders to (as in an article I posted here a few months ago) a guy who challenged a speeding ticket and lost. So, the good news is that Georgia is at least somewhat fair and sex offenders aren't the only people they subject to banishment laws. Alas, everybody in Georgia on probation or parole (even for misdemeanors) has their name and address and crime posted on the internet for all to see. So, Georgia's also somewhat fair in that respect- everybody on probation or parole there is put on a hit list for all to see, just like sex offenders. (However, the people on probation or parole for non-sex offenses get their pics taken offline when their probation or parole period ends, even though most sex offenders have to register for life there.)
