This has to do with a case from the Central Florida ICAC task force that's being getting a lot of bad press lately. It isn't light reading, there's a motion to dismiss or suppress, a lengthy deposition, the operational plan for the sting operation and a chat transcript. All together it shows how this task force has been using active duty military personnel to investigate and enforce state law in violation of 18 U.S.C. ยง 1385, the Posse Comitatus Act.

It also shows the severe lack of supervision of the undercover chatters. The chatter in this one which happens to be active duty Air Force, did not actually state a minor age until after the target had driven 250 miles and was sitting outside the sting location.

That's just crazy! Wait till after 250 miles? The question is why? Hoping this gets dismissed.

Wow Aladdin - you mean this was an accident or entrapment? Of course most of us know that more and more this is becoming the NORM and NOT the exception. I remember Aladdin you posted about the news stories that of the 132 people arrested by Grady a good number of those cases had already been vacated. And you can bet your sweet bippy that is the ICAC task force is skirting the rules in these stings they are also breaking the rules and using entrapment tactics on other types of cases - like CP I know for a fact of several CP cases where much of the information does not make sense.

The investigator claims he tried to send an email about being a minor early on but for whatever reason the defendant didn't receive it. Ummmm yeah ok..........The attorney states in this motion that another motion to dismiss based on entrapment is coming so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

@Advocate - I honestly haven't dug into to CP cases to the same extent yet but let's just say I don't expect them to be sterling examples of quality police work :)
