One note on the above. When people who aren't involved with or are an SO look up this info they find information like this, in articles , etc. It makes it seems like everyone who is an RSO is a real sex offender.
My son is a sex offender. Yet he never touched a child. But because there is so little info on who is and what someone does to become labeled, most people hearing about my son would believe he's sexually interested in children.
That idea and what's out there is the thing that bothers me the most. There are thousands of innocent people who are labeled RSOs but most people will think they all want to have sex with children.

The info is interesting and it's their point of view and YES SOs have to pay and pay.. But my son is lumped in there and he would never harm a child, as well as most registered citizens. It's all about fearing the boogyman.

Nak... A very good although disturbing podcast.

I find it disturbing that they say that people accused of a sex crime or a mistake, cannot be cured and that they are "Hard wired" to what they did and cannot be cured. This says to me that this becomes a cash cow for therapy and a financial burden for the offender. No other crime in existence gets the same amount of scrutiny! At least this report shows that registries make no differences in recidivism... Only adverse affects.

When we start registering everybody who ever commits a crime what kind of society will we become?

But there are thousands of people out there that DID commit the crime but they still are not interested in having sex with children and never were.

Of course they pay and pay. SO's are the low hanging fruit of the criminal world. Thousands of make believe psychologist are living large for doing absolutely nothing. Just another example of the average american's need for revenge. Can't wait until the almost million people who have been backed into a corner decide to come out of that corner.

This is a very good podcast, it lays out the facts well and it takes a pretty non-biased approach in doing so. The one thing I wish they would include was the actual recidivism rates. The fact that these guys did not know it, I call BS. How hard is it to find recidivism statistics? But everything else I think was fairly balanced.
