Castration won't change anything. Sure he won't be able use that part of his body but that's not the only way to sexually assault someone. My husband stayed over clothing. He needs to get to the core issues. It's the mind and heart. He needs to get to counseling. I recommend reading some Steven Furtick books. They don't have to deal with sexual issues but they have some great ideas that may help.

IDK in many cases, it's less about attraction and more about power. IMO sexual abuse in many ways is akin to bullying.
Anyway, if an abuser wants to abuse, they will find a way around restrictions/limitations whether it be physical or arbitrary laws and lists.

I won't get too deep into morals here. There are arguments on both sides. I will say this. I could understand if a person wanted castration if it could end persecution. I could understand it even more if it would. The decision whether it is worth doing so is highly personal. Some people won't give in to perceived injustice, others merely want to survive any way they can. I don't pretend to know the answer, nor to know if there is always a definite one. If I were faced with decades of imprisonment or castration, I might opt for castration. That doesn't mean I should have to, or that I should have to face the situation. It is just a reality. It's OK to take a strong stand, but different people value different things in life--some want principle, some want to survive even if doing so seems so unjust. Of course, any such decision should be made in consultation both with an attorney (to know if it will make a legal difference) and with a doctor (preferably, a psychiatrist who specializes in this area).

One must also distinguish between chemical and surgical castration. We all know about surgical castration. But, what is less known is that there are drugs that can reduce or eliminate sexual desire. These are not necessarily permanent. Among these drugs are Lupron and MPA (medroxy progesterone acetate). If your relative is absolutely committed to castration, he should of course consider these non-permanent steps first. Also, castration may help where the issue is motivated purely by sexual desire. Thus, for instance, a violent rapist seeking the thrill of a fight may not respond at all to castration.

I wish we lived in a world where people did not face such choices.

He is in it 4 the pleasure n he wants the castration bc he doesn't want it to take over anymore. He is also looking at 25 years for the 1 charge and who knows 4 the others!!?

I think that even if he castrated himself, there would still be the potential that he is at risk of relapsing. He should probably get into therapy and start to try to learn and figure out why he is like this and how he can get better.

In truth the only thing castration does is ensure sterility.

There are so many other ways to deal with this. Your husband is truly suffering right now. It is not a good time to make a permanent choice such as physical castration. Castration cannot relieve the guilt and shame he must be feeling. In time, these feelings will change, then he can make a more rational choice. Perhaps you could convince him to wait a year before making such a drastic decision. That way, his choice is not taken away, but he has the opportunity to let things settle out.

Ultimately, he may not be able to make this decision anyway.... if he is in jail :( Sorry.

I have been telling him to just pray pray pray n that the answer will come!! That's all I know to do at this time!!

This is a mental, issue not a physical one he needs to get to the, mental part and not the physical when he goes in for his mandatory so treatment he should talk to his theripist about this issue and see what he or she suggests
