My husband could not leave the house to go to his classes today because a resident of one of the halfway houses in the area cut off his GPS monitor and escaped and is harassing the family of his victim: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2480563/Paroled-rapist-Dennis-Michael-McKenzie-loose-cutting-GPS.html

The police and media are camped out on the street filming, harassing and attempting to interview everyone coming and going from any of the houses.

My question is this--- if they were truly interested in finding this guy, why are they at the house he LEFT?? He's obviously not going back! Just more scare tactics, and they must be thrilled that it's right before Halloween!

Bad timing for sure. There is that five to seven percent(?) chance that one will re offend, maybe he is one, maybe not. could be shit crap reporting and they have all of it wrong. Maybe he is a serious threat.... Sure does raises a lot of questions when things like this happen. One thing for sure, if they are dead set on doing harm, no amount of registry will stop them.

Hope your husband gets his liberties back soon.

I read about that ksteeler,sad really. That guy should have been in prison longer becuAse he was a threat, but served less time than most of out loved ones (or those who served time) who are not dangerous in any respect.

They finally caught him late yesterday afternoon 100+ miles away. Hopefully the media will go away now and let the rest of them get back to their lives.

My husband's question was--- he escaped six weeks ago, so why were they reporting this as 'breaking news' 2 days ago and why were they at these houses when he'd been gone for so long? Lazy media going for the easy scare!

Lazy is the truth! I watched them sit in the back of the court room like seagulls while the DA fed them garbage. I was already leery of the local press. After what my family has been thru, I'll never buy a newspaper again :-(
