Lifetime monitoring

My husband is a RSO. He was release this pass Jan 2012. When he was sentence the judge told him he would be on the registray for life. Prior to his release he reviewed a letter that he would be on lifetime monitoring , shouldn't they have told them in court ? Who decides the lIfetime monitoring the Judge or the DOC?

I think it varies by state. Where I live everything was decided by the judge, until of course the state legislature got involved and started passing sweeping and unfair laws.

What state do you reside in? Many laws were passed that said "lifetime GPS", but those laws are unenforceable in most cases.

yeah it's like felon's on paper can't vote. i was convicted before this law was passed. does that mean that i was grandfathered in? o.O no. :( so does that mean that the legislature can over rule the judicial side of the government. who knows? i'm not gonna test it :P

I don't know your states laws, however someone from your state might be able to answer your question.
You don't mention if your husband is on an GPS ankle braclet now.

I think that someone would need more details in order to answer your quesion.

Yes he is on an ankle bracelet. He was arrested last week and spent 4 days in jail because somebody enter the wrong time in the GPS.

In WI it is SORP (Sex Offender Registration Program) They look at the statutes in which you were convicted under and depending on if the criteria is met, and the decision is made. Those laws differ from state to state so it would be helpful if you let us know the state.
