Scrolling through this page lately I've noticed there are several new people who are going through the hardships that I have been through in the past few months.
It is definitely been a journey for me, so hopefully I can enlighten you and let you see where I'm coming from.
I am in love with a registered sex offender. Being a victim of sexual assault growing up I realize the level of shock and unacceptance that will be heaved on us once we reveal that he is registered. Many of my friends and family will view him as the same man who hurt me, and could quite possibly relive the pain. How horrible to know that the love you have for somebody could cause such turmoil and stress. All because of a past mistake he made.
I choose to love this man. Not because of his past, but because of who he is today. I've never met anybody who completes me as well as this man. And I can only hope and pray that they see what I see in him.
And yet, I realize that at the end of the day they're going to do what's best for them. In our everyday lives we make decisions that impact and , prayerfully, benefit or future. I don't think about my siblings, my cousins, my mom or my grandmother when I make decisions for me. I do what I believe will help me to succeed and be happy... just like they do for themselves.
If they love me they will trust my decisions. It may take them a while to come around. Some will completely walk away, but at the end of the day those who truly are there for me will remain there for me.
Everybody judges... It's in them instinctually. My family constantly judges decisions I make in my life, wanting me to better myself. I'm sure it's constructive criticism, however, I continue to do what is best for me. I take their advice for what it is...advice. Their viewpoint of how they would live my life without the knowledge of the inner workings of my everyday life. They don't know what is best for you you know what is best for you so with that I choose to smile and be brave and just love deeply and completely.
Life is a bumpy road anyway... You might as well go with your heart.
