I have been reading the Justice in Jersey website recommended by one of our forum members. (Sorry, I don't remember who.)

In the article that asks readers to vote on whether they agree with the Jessica Lunsford Act, it says the law would do this:

"Any individual who has information regarding a sex offender or predator, who fails to notify law enforcement, may be charged with a felony offense."

This is just HORRIBLE. This would mean no one, not even concerned family members could ever get any confidential couseling from social workers, doctors, psychiatrists, friends, attorneys, family members, because every single on of those people would be required to contact law enforcement or be guilty of a felony.

I am so alarmed by this. Does the law really say that?

Is it? I have no idea how it works. Let's say I learn that a juvenile family member fondled another juvenile family member and this took place over 20 years ago. Am I now a felon for not reporting this to the police today?

And, does this now mean that someone who was 18 when dating (and having relations with) a 15 year old 40 years ago and ended up getting married should also be reported? THAT could get interesting LOL!

Yes, that is the law! That's why we all need to fight them! Sooner or later we will all end up in jail! Or at least several of our family members!
