I'm sorry to hear that. I would have her consult with an attorney about the media broadcasting her address because like you said, they are putting her and her kids in danger. Not sure what he could/could not do but at least get advice. Another thing is inform the police and ask them to patrol the area for her as she feels she may be in danger of retaliation.

There is no recourse. My son and family were evicted from their home after the TV and press aired his story, including home address, showed the restaurant where he was Exec Chef, they just don't care. Court records are public and once they get hold of the story they'll do anything to crucify the suspect and in turn, their entire family. It's a tragedy many of us know all too well.

But please feel free to make your comments here, as both my son and daughter-in-law are reading this forum.

Unfortunately there's the part of our US constitution that allows freedom of the press. Newpapers can print what they want without having to be held responsible for not just hurting the accused but the families also. Our privacy is taken away when the information makes for a good, hyped up story. It's not fair but that's our wonderful US! =(

My family has endured vigilante problems. What I did is called the police. I also put survielence equipment on my home. Which I've had to use and turn over the tapes to the police. It has helped, especially when I posted signs in my yard stating that security was being used! The police will help! Document EVERYTHING that happens. Dates, times and occurance. You can use this in court to help fight your case also.

Thats so hard. :( When everything happened in my life I was still in high school. Everything hit the papers and TV. I had to go to school. It was horrible. I lost all my friends etc. Thankfully it only lasted a few weeks until summer break and I moved. If anything happens like RW'sMom said document everything. Also call the police, you have rights. Keep coming to DS you will get tons of support.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. My son was in the Navy, stationed in another state when it happened so there was no local news about it. He has been home for a couple of weeks and no incidents yet. I have advised him about documentation if any occur. It's good advise. Good luck in your struggle. My thoughts are with you.
