You are right, he isn't a monster. He can get help so he doesn't act on those desires and work through any trauma he endured when he was younger.

Support system is very important to help him.

Don't try to understand. Right now everything is a whirlwind - just love and support your son. That's all you can do right now. Oh, and praying daily helps. We are all standing in your shoes one way or another. Just take it day by day. Stop projecting what "might" be and focus on your son. We are all here for you.

Welcome to a place all us never thought we would be. So you are a month in this. Let me see.....still in shock. How could this happen? How do i understand this? How can i love him? Where do i go for answers? How do I get through this?

I cant tell you how many sleepless nights i had. I went through so many emotions. Anger...sad...unbelief...

I cried. I couldnt believe it. I denied it. I was on one hell of a roller coaster. No one could help me. No one understood what i was going through. The fact that there are no resources in the community to help us with this situation.

Family???? Friends???? There will come a time where they get tired of listening to you. They will say get on with your life. They will say "i knew something was wrong with him".

Thank God i found this forum. Only those who have been through this truy understands.

Be prepared to go through many emotions. Be prepared for the criminal justice system. Be prepared for craziness.

As for advice.....support and love your son. He needs you.
