I had a phone interview the other day with Jennifer Bleyer, an editor at Psychology Today Magazine. I gave her a pseudonym and a phone number that would be difficult to trace back to me. She asked thoughtful questions and listened intently to my responses. I have read several of her articles. She's one of the good guys.

I am an editor and writer at Psychology Today who is working on a story about the wives/girlfriends of convicted sex offenders. Previously, as a freelance journalist, I developed an interest in issues concerning sexual abuse and pedophilia, with a particular interest in primary prevention—that is, how child sexual abuse can be prevented before it even happens. I published several articles on the topic, including these two in Slate Magazine:

For this article on the wives of sex offenders, I’m hoping to find at least one woman who would be willing to tell her story (complete anonymity will be granted). I would like it to be someone who remained married to her husband through his conviction and sentencing; who acknowledges that her husband committed an act or acts of child sexual abuse; who may be involved in therapy or a support group herself; and who may now be versed in the larger body of research on child sexual abuse and primary prevention; although I know that many women in this situation have faced horrendous and devastating personal journeys, I'm specifically looking for someone who's concerned with the question of 'what could have prevented my husband from doing what he did, and what could prevent more men from doing it in the future?'

That name sounds familiar.
Oncefallen...coming from the perspective of a mother whose children were victims, I still think she's one of the good guys. Nevertheless, I don't anticipate ever giving her my real name.
If you doubt Bleyer, I would really appreciate your reading her two articles linked above and then telling me what I'm not seeing.
We do need to invest in prevention programs. This waiting until an offense has occurred before we do anything, and increasing punishments isn't working either.
She says to tell you that..."I'm one of the 'good guys,' trying to dispel the bogeyman myth and look at real treatment and prevention options. And that people can be completely anonymous with me. Thanks!"
